Finding the right counselor is such an important step, and it’s natural to want to feel confident about your choice. The best way to know if we are the right fit is through conversation. That’s why we offer a complimentary phone consultation before you schedule. During this time, you can share a little about what you’re facing, ask questions about our approach, and get a feel for whether our style feels comfortable and supportive to you.
Every counselor brings unique training, experience, and perspective, but just as important is the relationship you build together. Trust, comfort, and a sense of being heard are key. If after our consultation you feel that connection, we can move forward together. If not, we will gladly point you toward other resources, because what matters most is that you find the support that helps you thrive.
Your first visit is a chance to get comfortable and begin building a connection with your counselor or therapist. We’ll spend time getting to know one another and talking about what brings you in. You’ll have the opportunity to share as much (or as little) as you’d like about your current situation, your goals, and what you hope to gain from counseling. This time also allows you to get a sense of how well we communicate together, so you can feel confident moving forward.
Every first session is designed to give you space to ask questions, feel heard, and begin shaping the direction of your future sessions. Think of it as laying the foundation for the journey ahead—one that will move at your pace and according to your needs.
Yes. Everything you share with your counselor, therapist, or wellness provider is confidential and protected under HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) requirements. This means your personal information, session notes, and anything discussed in appointments are not shared with anyone without your written permission.
The only exceptions to confidentiality occur if there is an immediate risk of harm—either to yourself or to someone else. In those rare situations, we are legally and ethically obligated to take steps to ensure safety. This could mean contacting emergency services or notifying someone who can help.
Outside of these circumstances, your privacy is fully protected. Our goal is to provide a safe and supportive space where you can speak freely and feel completely secure.
We do not work directly with insurance companies. However, many of our clients choose to use their Out-of-Network Provider coverage. In these cases, clients pay us directly and then submit their invoices to their insurance company for possible reimbursement. Depending on your plan, you may receive partial or full reimbursement, or it may apply toward your deductible. Invoices are always available to view and print from our Client Portal, making the process simple if you wish to submit them.
There are important reasons why we don’t contract with insurance providers:
Privacy: Insurance companies require access to session notes and mandate that clients be given a diagnosis. Because we do not report to insurance companies, your information remains completely private. If a diagnosis is discussed, it stays strictly between us unless you request it in writing.
Control: Insurance companies often decide what issues qualify for counseling, the number of sessions you’re allowed, and the type of treatment they will approve. We believe you should have the freedom to make those decisions for yourself, based on your goals and needs.
One of the greatest advantages is privacy and discretion. Because we do not bill insurance, you are not required to receive a formal diagnosis just to begin counseling. This means your personal mental health information stays completely confidential and is never shared with an insurance company.
Another benefit is freedom of choice. Insurance companies often decide what issues qualify for counseling, how many sessions are allowed, and what type of therapy will be covered. By choosing to work outside of insurance, you and your provider are free to create a plan that fits your unique needs and goals—without restrictions or outside control.
In short, working with a private-pay provider ensures that your care remains 100% confidential and fully tailored to you.

Counseling appointments are scheduled for 45 minutes, and we make it a priority to respect your time. If your session is at 10:00am, you can expect to be greeted promptly at that time so we can begin right away. As for the overall counseling process, it really depends on your individual needs. Some people find a few sessions are enough to work through a particular challenge, while others benefit from a longer-term relationship that offers a consistent, safe space to talk and be heard. On average, clients attend ten to fifteen sessions, often beginning with weekly appointments and then gradually moving to monthly or quarterly check-ins.
The session rate for individual or couple/family counseling session is $165.
If you have a Health Savings Account (HSA) through your employer, it does cover counseling as well as diet and nutritional counseling. It is usually tied to a MasterCard and works like any other credit card. In addition to HSA you may also use any major credit or debit card.
To start counseling simply register as a new client in our client portal. You will be able to select your counselor, type of session (this includes telehealth/phone) and preferred appointment time. Once the appointment is confirmed you are able to complete the forms online before your session. Please contact us with any questions. We look forward to hearing from you.
