Approach to
Counseling
Each person who comes to counseling brings a different set of experiences, strengths, and goals. Our role is to walk alongside you with understanding and guidance, offering a process that’s structured enough to keep you moving forward but flexible enough to fit your unique needs. Over time, you’ll notice greater clarity, improved coping skills, and renewed hope for the future.
Begin with a thorough intake session to learn more about your background, current concerns, and goals.
Create a personalized plan that may include developing coping tools, addressing unresolved emotions, or building healthier thought patterns.
Check in regularly to review your progress, make adjustments, and celebrate the steps you’ve taken toward greater well-being.
How Does Counseling Work?
Counseling is a guided process that helps you sort through challenges, emotions, and experiences with the support of a trained professional. Instead of having to carry everything on your own, counseling offers a safe space to talk things through and learn healthier ways to cope. Over time, it can shift the way you see yourself, your relationships, and the world around you. We start with a conversation where you share what’s been going on and what you hope to change. After that we will work together to set goals that feel realistic and meaningful for your life. We teach you the strategies and tools that you can use every day to manage stress, emotions, and relationships more effectively.
Who Is Counseling For?
Counseling is for anyone who wants support in navigating life’s challenges, whether big or small. Some people come because they’re struggling with anxiety, stress, or sadness, while others are simply seeking clarity, balance, or personal growth. It can be helpful during times of transition, loss, or uncertainty, but it can also be valuable when life feels steady and you just want to deepen your understanding of yourself. No matter where you are in your journey, counseling provides a safe and supportive place to be heard, understood, and encouraged.

Finding the right
Counselor for you
Choosing the right counselor can feel overwhelming, but at Winter Garden Wellness we believe it starts with feeling truly cared for. Our team offers a concierge level of service, meaning you’ll never feel like just another appointment on the calendar. From your very first conversation, our goal is to listen closely, understand your unique needs, and create a safe, welcoming space where you feel comfortable sharing openly. We also offer a complimentary phone consultation, giving you the chance to ask questions, learn more about our approach, and see if it feels like the right fit. The relationship you build with your counselor is the foundation of the work you’ll do together, and we’re committed to making that connection supportive, personalized, and encouraging every step of the way.
Frequently Asked Questions
Your first session is simply a chance for us to get to know you. We’ll talk about what brought you in, what you hope to accomplish, and answer any questions you may have. It’s a relaxed conversation, not a test, and our goal is to make you feel comfortable and supported from the very beginning.
The length of counseling varies from person to person. Some people see improvement in just a few sessions, while others benefit from longer-term support. Together, we’ll create a plan that makes sense for your needs and adjust it as you grow.
Not at all. Counseling isn’t only for people in crisis. Many clients come in simply wanting to improve communication, reduce stress, or gain more clarity about their lives. Everyone can benefit from having a safe space to process and grow.
Yes. Your privacy is extremely important to us. What you share in counseling stays between you and your counselor, with the exception of a few legal and ethical obligations to ensure your safety. We’ll review confidentiality fully in your first session.
Most clients begin with weekly sessions, then may move to biweekly or monthly as they make progress. We’ll talk about what schedule works best for you and adjust as needed.
Yes. We provide in-person sessions in our Winter Garden office, as well as secure virtual sessions for those who prefer meeting from home. Both options allow you to receive the same level of personalized care.
Counseling can address a wide range of challenges including anxiety, depression, stress, grief, trauma, relationship struggles, life transitions, and more. It can also be helpful if you’re not facing a crisis but simply want to better understand yourself and your goals.
If you’ve been wondering whether life could feel easier, calmer, or more balanced, counseling may be a good step. The best way to know for sure is to schedule a quick phone consultation and see how it feels.
This is not a full session — it’s simply a short call that gives you the chance to ask questions, share what you’re looking for, and get a sense of whether counseling may be right for you. Many people are surprised at how helpful even this first conversation can be.
No, not directly. We put an emphasis on privacy, and avoiding diagnostic labels. Insurance requires a diagnosis, and removes a portion of your privacy. That said, if you would rather not pay out of pocket there are a couple of different options. You can use out-of-network provider benefits if your insurance plan offers this. You would pay out of pocket, and then submit a superbill to your insurance company for them to reimburse you. You could also use Health Savings Account (HSA). The HSA does not require paying out of pocket, paperwork, or a diagnosis.
Yes. We offer a complimentary phone consultation so you can ask questions, share what you’re looking for, and get a sense of whether we’re a good fit for your needs.
We offer a concierge level of care, which means you’ll always feel heard and supported — never rushed. Our approach is deeply personal, flexible, and focused on your unique needs.
